3000GT Sail Panel Restoration
On 91-98 3000GTs, the sail panels can fade and peel after years of exposure to the elements. With a few simple steps and an hour or two worth of work, you can get them shining again.

Some of the products used to restore the sail panels
With minimal effort, the results are astounding!
1) Clean off sail panels with Windex & dry.
2) Apply Rubbing compound (almost like liquid sandpaper) to get the ‘dead’ clearcoat off. Rub it in thoroughly. Wipe off right after. The sail panels should feel pretty smooth to the touch, but hazy. Reapply as needed.
3) Apply Polishing compound (a little less abrasive than rubbing compound). Rub it in, wipe off. Should be pretty solid black, but with some streaks. I did this step twice on each side.
4) Apply Plastic and Plexiglass cleaner. Do this step at least twice. Wipe off.
5) Try and get all the powderized residue off with a clean towel.
6) Wipe off area with microfiber or terry cloth towel
7) (optional) add a coat of wax. I did not do this but the shine would be much greater and last longer.
